There are several ways to have fun at Bear Creek Park in Houston. Visitors can see animals and have picnics. There are trails in the park for walking, running and horseback riding. The park has several playgrounds and places for sports activities. The Harris County War Memorial is in the park.
The animals at the wildlife area in the park are sheep, donkeys, goats, deer, bison and potbellied pigs. There is a pond with ducks and geese.
Visitors can picnic in picnic pavilions or at numerous picnic tables throughout the park. Reservations are required for the pavilions. Grills are located near the picnic areas.
The park’s trails wind through a wooded area near the picnic pavilions. Trail lengths vary from one and a half miles to three and a half miles.
Playgrounds are located throughout the park. There are soccer fields, baseball fields and tennis courts for public use. The tennis courts are lighted. The golf facility at Bear Creek Golf World is open to the public. It has three golf courses, a driving range and practice putting greens.
The Harris County War Memorial honors county residents who were killed in World War I and the wars since that time.
